If you happen to have a japanese iTunes Store account, then you definitely should checkout Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution S Lite (iTunes Link) for the iPhone. The application or better game is just a preview of what is coming in the full version. DDR S Lite is free and the number one in the Free iPhone App charts at the moment. DDR S Lite is absolutely fun not just for pro gamers, but also for people like me who have absolutely no experience in Bemani games. Also, Konami put up a website for their new game here (japanese only).
Today PingMag, a Tokyo based online magazine announced via its blog that they are going to stop posting new articles for an extended time. The announcement wasn’t clear enough as to why they have to go on a hiatus. Later in the comments, Max Hodges from WhiteRabbitPress gave a reason to the announcement:
White Rabbit Press has contacted Risa Partners, the organization which owns PingMag and requested a time to meet and discuss if we can take over and continue PingMag. We’ve stressed that the value of the property will decline as the readership declines, so hopefully they will give us an opportunity to negotiate soon. We are suppose to hear from them in January.
A sad announcement for the last day in this year. Thanks to everyone at PingMag for their hard work.
JR Central was testing the new Shinkansen N700 series since 2003. In march of next year the N700 will run publicly between Tokyo and Osaka incorporating many new advantages like maximum speed of 300km/h, a body tilting system, a new ‘double wing’ nose shape for better aero-dynamical performance. One new feature is surely an advantage for the passengers. The N700 series has a train control and communication system. For passengers this means an always on Wi-Fi internet connection thanks to NTT Communication’s HotSpot service efforts in Japan.
The launch of the iPhone 3G is imminent. In the US and A we already know there they lining up since last friday or so. Now, thanks to Akihabara News we can enjoy a few pics of people queuing up in Harajuku, Tokyo. Just before the main Softbank store. See a few pictures after the break and the whole gallery on Akihabara News.
So, Softbank the third biggest mobile phone operator besides NTT Docomo and KDDI in Japan signed an agreement with Apple to distribute the iPhone through out the country. As we all might know, Softbank operates solely on a W-CDMA network in Japan, so the iPhone Softbank is going to sell, must be a 3G UMTS/HSPA version. Softbank announced the iPhone to be available later this year.
goo.jp seems to be a very popular search engine in Japan, besides the already wellknown Yahoo and Google. Mari tells us in here diary that Google wants goo.jp’s technology. Nonetheless, goo.jp’s Commercial ad is very nice made (can you get the clue at the end of the video?).
Omodaka, is a project incorporating Far East Recording and different artists like Power Graphixx, Teppei Maki, Hiroshi Kizu and others, developed through a ‘trial and error process of mutational fusion of music and motion graphics’. Kyotoeizinc is by far their nicest creation I’ve seen till now, nice chiptunes, beautiful dancer, great composition of sound and graphics. It’s a must see!!
Watch the video below. You can also buy their music on iTunes.

火垂るの墓 (Hotaru No Haka) or Grave Of The Fireflies is going into reality. With a release scheduled for this year’s summer. I am waiting for it. The animation was very good, well, very sad. I have high hopes for this movie.
Tomorrow is the release of Polysic’s new single Pretty Good, in Japan. Watch the video here (as long as it’s there).
